渡邉裕美（わたなべ ひろみ）、別名 ゆり呼は、東京出身の日本の現代アーティストである。即興的な水彩画を紙に描くことを専門とし、内面の感情を深く親密に表現している。独特の色彩感覚で知られ、水彩クロッキーにも優れた才能を発揮する。これまで18回の個展を含め130以上のグループ展に参加し、4か国で国際的に作品を発表してきた。作品の美術館収蔵展示が生涯目標。詩人としても活躍し、詩集『あの人への想いに綴るうた』を出版。画集『水彩クロッキー 自由な色彩で描く』（2022年）や絵本を刊行するなど、イラストと詩で計18冊の出版物に寄稿している。作品に繰り返し現れる「微笑み」のモチーフは、自己表現を拒まれた苦い学生時代の記憶から生まれた絶望感、そして重症筋無力症（MG）を含む複数の難病と向き合い死と対峙した経験に由来する。もう一つの重要なテーマは、片想いに苦しむ女性たちの繊細な描写であり、これは彼女自身の叶わぬ想いの痛みに触発されたものである。時折襲う不安や憂鬱に耐えながらも、それらを心と魂を磨く精神修養と位置づけ、誰もがそれぞれの重荷を背負っていることを静かに認めている。「この世で仏に会う」という願い——苦しみからの救済への深い渇望に突き動かされ、創作活動を続けている。当初は自身の癒しのために生まれた作品は、今では同じような苦悩を抱える人々に慰めを与え、観る者の心に安らぎをもたらしている。一方、ヒロミの学生時代の幻想的な古いスケッチや想像力豊かなメモには、まだ掘り起こされていない豊かなアイデアが潜んでおり、真に表現したいものを追い求め続けている。「絶望の中にも一筋の光を見出し、それを癒しへと変えられる」という信念のもと、彼女は献身的な芸術活動を通じて、今この瞬間の感情を大切にしている。
Hiromi Watanabe, also known as Yuriko, is a contemporary Japanese artist from Tokyo. She specializes in spontaneous watercolor paintings on paper, deeply and intimately expressing her inner emotions. Celebrated for her distinctive sense of color, she demonstrates exceptional skill in watercolor croquis. To date, she has held 18 solo exhibitions and participated in over 130 group shows, presenting her work internationally in four countries.Having her work exhibited in museum collections is her lifelong goal. As a poet, she has published the collection Songs Woven from Feelings for That Person. She has also released the art book Watercolor Croquis: Painting with Free Colors (2022), along with several picture books, contributing illustrations and poems to a total of 18 publications.The recurring “smile” motif in her works originates from the despair arising from suppressed self-expression during her difficult school years and from confronting death while facing multiple serious illnesses, including myasthenia gravis (MG).Another key theme is her delicate portrayal of women tormented by unrequited love, inspired by the pain of her own unfulfilled feelings.While enduring occasional anxiety and melancholy, she regards these challenges as spiritual discipline that refines her heart and soul, quietly acknowledging that everyone carries their own burdens. Driven by the profound longing to “meet the Buddha in this world”—a deep desire for liberation from suffering—she continues her creative practice. Works that began as a means of personal healing now provide comfort to those experiencing similar struggles, offering peace to viewers. Meanwhile, in Hiromi’s fantastical old sketches and imaginative notes from her student days, rich untapped ideas lie dormant as she pursues what she truly wishes to express.Guided by the belief that “even within despair, a single ray of light can be found and transformed into healing,” she cherishes the emotions of the present moment through her devoted artistic journey.
